WE WERE MADE FOR A BETTER STORY.

WELCOME

My name is Craig Cunningham, and I make creative projects about that idea. You were made for a better story. So was I.

In a world that is deeply broken, my work as an artist is an attempt to remind us who we are at our core: bearers of the Image of God.

I do this primarily through novels and poetry, but I also dabble in songwriting and film from time to time. But my main medium for telling stories is books.

To me, writing has always been a form of exploration. I want to push into the unknown places of my soul and record what I find. My hope is that those findings and questions also connect with whoever is reading the work, but that's never my ultimate goal. I'm a human being on a great adventure for the sake of the adventure. I want to discover the better story for myself. At times, that journey will resonate with you and at other times it may not. That's ok! Part of being an artist is going where the work takes me. You will find that my projects are varied for this reason.

However, there are some threads that show up time and time again for me. Maybe they show up in your own search for the better story, too. I recently did an audit of my projects and identified seven core themes I've been wrestling with for the last decade.

1. The universal power of Christian symbolism

2. Practical and metaphysical implications of the imago dei

3. Individual calling towards death and rebirth

4. The relationship between mystery and divine order

5. Marriage and family as the core representation of Truth

6. The primacy of Beauty and Love

7. The God-made man vs. the man-made state

In every project, however different they may be, these themes seem to make an appearance. That may give you some idea of what you can expect to find. You can find all of my book projects on Amazon, either as eBooks or in print.

I hope you'll spend a little time on the site and take a look at my projects. If one speaks to you, give it a shot and let me know what you think. I'd love to discuss the ideas with you. That's what started this journey in the first place.

Wishing you well,

Craig

P.S.  My newest project is a coming-of-age novel called One Night in a Thousand Years. It's about a group of high school boys who are invited into the adventure of life. I think you'll love it. You'll laugh. You'll cry. And you will definitely be challenged to go and make the most of the time you have left. One Night is my most accessible project. So if you want to read just one thing I've written, start there. Then give your copy of the book away to someone else (and write a review!).
